This week, we’re dusting off our flags ready for the first game of Euro 2016.
The mN team are extra excited this year because the tournament is kicking off with the launch of a new product we’ve delivered for BBC Sport. Go team!
Predictor is a new game available on the BBC Sport website and app that invites players to predict match results throughout the month long tournament.
Points are awarded for every correct prediction and for this first time ever on the BBC, you can now put your scores to the test by creating personalised leagues with friends, family or colleagues.
Predictor’s new league feature is one manifestation of the BBC’s broader ambition to drive audience participation across BBC Sport. In a year jam-packed full of major sporting events, there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved and Predictor is just one of a suite of products aimed at creating a shared experience for all audiences.
During the project, we’ve been working as an extension of the BBC Sport Design & Engineering team over at MediaCityUK, This has been great, as it has allowed us to incorporate the requirements of the project’s wider stakeholders across the organisation.
Predictor has been designed with versatility in mind; with the long-term ambition for the product being that it can be used across a variety of other sporting events, starting with the 2016-17 Premier League season in August. In the future, the BBC is also hoping that Predictor can be adapted for other BBC products outside of Sport.
